Here is my attempt at a movie review. I hope these to be fun/funny with some seriousness but without the over the top examination of film making. I have zero writing talent and any of these reviews will be completely subjective and totally unscientific.
So that being said here is my review of:
Death Race

Who Is In It: Jason Statham, Joan Allen, Ian McShane, Tyrese Gibson, Natalie Martinez
Run Time: 111 minutes
Blu-Ray or DVD: Blu-Ray
Plot/Synopsis: Innocent dude sent to prison, NASCAR gone psycho
IMDB: Ex-con Jensen Ames is forced by the warden of a notorious prison to compete in our post-industrial world's most popular sport: a car race in which inmates must brutalize and kill one another on the road to victory.
What I Thought: Even though I like Jason Statham I wasn’t really expecting much from Death Race. The director did a smart thing not trying to make something out of nothing. The story gets right to the main focus, the death races in the prison. The races themselves are well done with lots of action but actually could have been longer. Story and acting are minimal but that was to be expected. Essentially just sit back, shut up and watch a fun movie.
Video: :Ah :Kc
- mostly a darkly lit film but looked really good in High Def
- close ups reveal detailed scars and cuts from all characters
Audio: :As :Ac
- great surround sound, gun fire from all directions and localized to specific speakers when appropriate
- dialogue could always be heard (which is a pet peeve of mine)
- nice rumbles from the subwoofer due to gunfire, cars and explosions
Story: :7h :6c
- simple to the point
- not going to get any surprises.
- if looking for high art this isn’t the place.
PMC Quick Hits: Guns, cars, violence, no nudity, 1 ½ hot chicks
Overall: Lots of guns and explosions, gruesome deaths, car races/chases, I like Jason Statham so all in all a good popcorn movie that I enjoyed more than I thought I would just don’t expect Oscar worthy story or acting.
3.5 Swankys out of 5.

How I watched it:
Beverage of choice: Jack Daniels and Diet (fuck you I’m diabetic) Pepsi
Player: Sony Blu-Ray S350
Projector: Sanyo Z4: 720p upconverted by blu-ray to 1080i
Receiver: Pioneer 1018
Speakers: Front & Rear – Infinity RS3
Center – Infinity CC3
SubWoofer – A slow dying, unreliable Infinity BU-150
