So the old lady started busting my chops about the disrepair of the corner of the backyard. Last night she got a wild hair up her ass that I was going to re-do the corner today.
Here are the Before pics:

This here is a flower bed type thing off to the side of the central air unit. This climbing, spreading ivy pretty much totally overtook this bed. Hopefully all this mulch will keep that shit in check.

And the flower bed that I call the Rose Bed got some new mulch today too.

all told, I used 22 interlocking pavers, cut out the grass....total pain in the ass, put down the 15 year weed barrier, add mulch and let the wife put everything else in, well I had to nut that chiminea around the backyard a few times.
Still a few things to get done in the back yard. Open the pool...get the water swimmable, as the cover blew off a bit this Spring. I also still need to get rid of that stupid sandbox tugboat under the slide in the playset area. Drop in some weed barrier, and re-mulch. I also need to fix the rocks around the pool, as they have settled and exposed the gaps in the weed barrier that is down.
For the most part, I'm pretty happy with how the corner looks. I put 1 cubic yard of cheap ass mulch in the back yard today. Yesterday we put down a cubic yard in the front beds.
