Anyone know where I can find cheap or affordable murphy beds? It is an idea for my man cave that i've wanted for a while...but I'm just trying to find the right one. I've looked here (http://www.murphybedsystems.com/), but they are wicked expensive.
Also, there is baseboard heating in my basement/cave...any ideas for getting around the baseboards to be able to have the murphy bed flush against the wall?

You can build one piece of cake. (depending on your level of comfort in the carpentry arena) And no issues on the heaters, just mount the bed higher than the radiators. I've seen the hardware sold individually (hinge / spring / track) where you can match it up to whatever you build (size, etc.).

Yeah I don't really have the tools to build something like that (ie saw or nail gun). I think I could but it would probably be easier to have someone build it who is an experienced carpenter, instead of me hacking one up.
Do you know where to get the hing/spring/track for it?

Well I guess that answers my question :)
I'm thinking of starting to get used to building my own things. I just need the right tools and I think I can do it.
Onto another subject...whats the best compound miter saw for the money? Some craftsmans at sears look kinda cheap and I've read some bad reviews. Dewalt looks to be the best, but its the most expensive. I'm not looking to spend more than $200. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Thanks. I see its available at home depot right now for $99. I have a 50 dollar gift card to sears...too bad they don't have it there.

Great saw, but I'm also a big fan of Hitachi tools, so to each is own.

The money you would save building it yourself would pay for the tools... and then you could utilize those tools for even more money saving mancave projects.
