I know some of you guys grow your own. I'm growing mine now at my home in New York City. I don't have a lot of property so I am growing them in pots. I have a couple of questions for you growers out there:

1. I was wondering what types and how many plants do you have?
I have two Nuggets and two Cascades. They are just starting on their second growing season. The nugget has already grown about 2.5" sprouts and there are more popping up each week. Same with my cascade.

2. I have two 25 quart pots, one has my Cascades and the other, the Nuggets. My question is, since it is early in the growing season, can I transplant them now and still hope for a crop this year, or will they have to recover for another year?

3. What size pot should I get? My 25 quart pots were good for rookie rhizomes, but now I have to balance my limited space, with pot that should be able to house two rhizomes indefinitely until they get moved to a permanent residence several years down the road.

4. Can I have different varieties growing near each other, or will that cause problems? I don't really worry about mildew because the plants get a lot of sun, and insects aren't bad because I usually have at least 1-2 praying mantises rolling in my yard area and a couple hundred ladybeetles.

5. Any good books or websites on hop farming you would recommend?

I have three new varieties coming in a week from Freshops.com, Willamette, Fuggle, and Northern Brewer (I ordered two of each variety), in the future they are going to be used in a lot of porters, ales, and stouts. It may seem like I am a little out of control, but I am thinking about building a small treliss or pergola to train them all over to add a little more greenery to the front of our house. I am a country boy in the city, so adding as much green to my space is enjoyable. I am also a big gardener and rose grower, so these new plants give me another thing to learn about and grow. Also, it's a great conversation starter, people will stop and ask what the hell are the massive plants growing on poles in front of my house.

I look forward to hearing from the rest of you guys on your greenery.

Also guys, are there any good home brew forums that don't require me paying to be a member to get to information that would be useful?
