Right now I have an 8' oval, but i thinks it too big. I was thinking of selling it and making 2 60" rounds. but i started thinking of 2 6' oval. whats better? I can't find any pics of 6' oval - but, i didn't try to hard either. recommendations wanted.

Geez, I think 60" rounds would be huge. I made a 6' oval. I based it off the designs by Fifth (5th) Street Poker.
Poker Table Construction - Black Racetrack Table - Supplies - 5th Street Poker Parties (http://www.5thstreetpokerparties.com/blackracetracktable/supplies.asp)
I used basically the same measurements. I went with this size because I wanted the table to be portable and fit in the back of my suburban, as he mentions fitting it in the back of his truck. I succeeded; it fit in the back of the 'burb, but it was heavy as fuck, yo. I'd recommend perhaps a full-cloth, non-rack table to save on weight (2 sheets of plywood instead of 3). It was comfortable, not too big, not too small. I liked it. In fact, the next oval I build will be this size but not a racetrack. I hated, hated the rt. I just built a 48" round and when I build the oval, I'll use the same color scheme so they'll match. And I can have a tourney table (which is what we mostly play) and a cash table for those that bust out early.
Keep us posted on the build.

I'll try to grab some pics of mine. I've got two 6x3 tables (fit in the back of my equinox).

What are you ultimately trying to accomplish in switching sizes?
Here's an example, this one is 74"x46":

Comparison to an "almost" full size table (92"x44")

Nice pics, Irish. My 6' table was a bit more propotional. It was 72"x36", so it looked more like a full size table, not short and squat.

I was thinking about making a shorty for a final table...you know, when the tournament winds down to 6 or so... And it could be a cash table up to that point.
Just don't have the room for a shorty.

my 8 footer is too big. if someones dealing at one end, you almost have to stand up to see the cards if your at the other end. I usually don't have 10 players all the time so i thought 2 smaller ones would be good.

I didn't think of this until just now, but wouldn't two tables with presumably less players on each really affect the way you play. For example, 12 players around one table plays much differently than 6 players around 2 tables. You'd have to adjust your strategy, especially if you lose 2 guys off your table but the other table hasn't eliminated anyone. So I think 2 smaller tables would affect the game.
Even with my 6' table, guys had to stand up to see the cards on the other end. A 60" round may be the way to go. When I said it would be huge, I only meant that physically it wouldn't be any smaller than a 6' or 8' table. In fact, I find it harder to store my 48" round table than I did my 6' oval. The 6' oval slide under my bed pretty easily; it fit under one half so I could slide the other shit over to the other side. With the round, it takes up too much of both sides to make storing it practical. BUT if you want to solve the problem of seeing cards on one end or the other, I think a round table would solve that.

If the probelm is just seeing the cards, save yourself the effort of building 2 new table and get cards with Jumbo Index. We use them at my game and we have next to no issues with guys being able to see them from across an 8' table.

yeah short handed play is different than full table play and with a smaller table you will only have that or less.
I built mine in the middle 40"x80" fits 8 guys (25.71" each player) comfortable........ 9 guys (22.85" each player) if need be ............usually don't play long 9 handed someone is out early....lol
