Here is my first - and last - poker table. Made using walnut; billiard cloth playing area. I designed and built the pedestals and legs. (98% assembled) I decided against using cupholders - just my preference. I made player spots using plastic dowel.
Inaugural game wll include Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Phil Laak, Barry Greenstein, Doyle Brunson and Eric Seidel. I wish.
Also shown is another of my projects, a walnut monogrammed poker chip case.

I split your reply to the other thread into its own message / thread.
Very, very nice table!
Welcome to the forum!
Why it is your last table? Walnut tough to work with, or simply one, only and last table you'll ever need?

Very nice table indeed. I really like the inlays at the player positions. And I love the case too.

Solid table! And welcome to the forum.
And I love the case too.
How much do you love it? Let's say you could put a price point on that love. What would it be?

Nice first table, well done with the rail. How high off the ground is the top of the rail and how much leg clearance height do you have under the table?

Mark Junell's (Mark Junell (http://www.junell.cc/pokertable/)) and PCPotato's (PCPOTATO - Home (http://www.pcpotato.com)) sites compiled information about building poker tables. I salute them.

The project took over 2 years to complete. I only worked on it three hours each week. Also, I couldn't stand up straight for three days after making the rail. Too much strain on my back - I wouldn't want to do that again.
Walnut is great for woodworking - close grained, exotic looking, cuts well. Also, to finish, all you need are three coats of tung oil. Rub it in by hand, wipe off the excess right away and wait 24 hours for the oil to soak in. I used low gloss for this project.
Beats applying multiple coats of polyurethane, sanding between coats, possible running or missed spots, cleaning it off hands, etc.

The playing surface is 29" off the ground; standard height for a table. The top of the rail is 2" higher. The distance from the bottom of the skirt to the floor is 25". This leaves an 8" clearance between the skirt bottom and the top of a chair.
Anyone should be able to sit comfortably with the exception of Greg Luzinski.
I'm thinking about making cup holders, which would be hidden under the table and brought out at the players' option. They could be spring loaded and rest on the lower lip of the skirt.

Pfft that bullshit website is why I have a badly wrapped rail yet functional poker table and a join date going back to 2006.

Yeah, Mark's was my inspiration as well. Man, that was a long time ago. Look at how far designs and references have come!
But PCPOTATO? That guy should take a short stroll off a long boardwalk. ;)

Inlver: I have just 6 (six) words for you, sir: Nice table. Welcome to the forum.
BTW, you should feel proud at the self-restraint of our members here, quite the gentlemen indeed. The fact that you (Inlver) may have no idea what I'm talking about is the proof of which I mention.

Love the table... Labor of love. You will never forget how long it took and all the pain that went into it and neither will your kids when you hand it down. Well done.
I want some more pictures of the chips.

I ordered these from Paulson's in Las Vegas. They're clay chips, 32.5 grams each and stamped with my initials (extra charge). I highly recommend them.

I added cupholders to my table recently. They're spring-loaded, retractable and hide underneath the table when not in use.
I made the casings out of MDF, which was a mistake. I'm going to remake with wood and replace them the next time I disassemble the table for maintenance. They're a little too loose now for my liking.

It's a nice way to do it...

Yes, it was my own idea - after much thought and several beers.
I'll provide information in a separate thread, since it might help someone build them for their own table.

32.5 grams each? Surely that has to be a mistake.....if not,
