I went to CT.fee today for the first time in forever and was looking around the marketplace. I see that Palm Imports is selling custom cloths now.

Anyone order from them before and can post a mini/full review of the cloth, the quality of the print, how the order process went, etc?

I have ordered from them before for ceramic chips. I'm curious how this process went for cloth.

I got nothing.
What about Dave (banner on the page)
Is he still doing cloths? I haven't spoken to him in a while.

My guess is that you'll get a decent cloth through Joe.
I'd also ax Gene if he's doing them.

Those are the only I know of.
Oh... I guess there is one other...... but you can go straight to the source rather than using him as a middle man.

Get a sample from Joe and find out what process he uses.

The thing with Palm is they usually have ultra competitive (read cheap) pricing.

The cloth is supposedly dye sub and its only $110.

But the old cliche is you get what you pay for... so I'm curious.

I grabbed some samples, the weight of the cloth is a little light but it seemed OK. A couple of guys on CT have posted their cloths, they look pretty well printed and sharp. One thing to note though is that I think he sends them out to get printed, they're not done in shop. Looks to be a decent cheaper alternative if you don't have the cash to drop on a top of the line cloth like what Dave puts out.

You can't beat what Dave does.
For 110 buck, yes, you get what you pay for. You get a year or two use out of it, you got your moneys worth. IMO/YMMV/PPPOYW.

If Joe (PI) is using the printing company he talked to me about a few years back, then that guy prints for a lot of casinos and is here in FL. I would venture a guess and say he is probably getting the cloth from overseas, can't say for sure, just a guess.

Back when Joe/PI was running group buys on chips like 4-5 years ago i got the impression from my convo with him that EVERYTHING of his is from overseas even if he says he's doing it in shop

I ordered some great wall chips from him. His follow through sucks ass, but he makes up for it with his prices. I get so tired of reading "we're really busy here". STFU and do what your business is supposed to do, quickly and efficiently, and you'll be busy AND make money. That being said though, I'd feel safe buying from him, they DO make it right, albeit eventually, if they fock up

What ballpark is Dave in? I know JC ordered from Dave and has nothing but good things to say about Dave's work... just wondering how much more it is than Palm.

250 for a very nice cloth from Dave.
I have one, I've just never put it on a table (yet).
Picks of it are around the old place.

This.

I had him make some ceramics. It was a pain in the ass. The price was good, but the quality of communication sucked and I had to have some redone because the quality was not good at first.

I ended up having Guma do an add on set, the price was good, the quality was top notch, the professional nature of the transaction was worth even more than I paid.

That's why I asked about the cloths. If I go into it knowing the quality will be good, and will eventually get something good even with some added headache and work, I might spend the $110 and get a cloth.

But if I'm going to have to be extra patient, deal with bad communication, and the inevitable "we're really busy, we'll get to it" kind of stuff and then get something that sucks, I'd rather pay the extra to use someone like Dave.

it appears to be an opportunity cost between the headaches from dealing with Joe/Palm and the price he is charging vs an extra $140 with little to no headache and a higher quality cloth.

Yeah, for $110 I might take a flyer.

I don't remember the headaches involved in dealings as it was a decent sized group buy. I got 1000 of the Bellagio tournement replicas back in 06. I do know that there was a hold up or 2 to get some of the colors and pricings right. there was like 5 different options for the same chips. I went cheapest route and in reality my edges aren't all lined up and I have some bleeders between the yellow/black of the $100 chips but feel weight and quality of the chip is still way above anything else and have served me well for the price.

I love Dave's work, and will get #2 from him. But he charges $295, not $250, for a full sized cloth. There is a discount for PMC, I believe (10%?) which brings it to about $265, plus shipping of $20, so it's gonna run you about $285 all in, but it is great cloth, perfect printing.

He makes smaller ones, but the next size down is only 80" long. Won't cut it for most of us. I unequivocally endorse Dave's work.
