Okay so I'm at HD the other day, and I find a green tagged RYOBI PL180 for 19.99. Not the biggest fan of RYOBI necessarily but for 20 bones, how can I argue. It's missing a collet but I figure I can order it, np. And of course, I can simply take it back as well.

When I got home, I find out that a 1/2 collet alone is 42.95 and the 1/4 inch adapter is another 10, without shipping. WTF, over.

So I'm wondering if someone might have burned one out and would be willing to ship for a 20 dollar bill. Figured maybe someone here might have killed one at some point . . . .

Take the one off the display model.

Ha! That might just be the ticket. I'm sure that's what someone did to this baby too. Never would have guessed a collet would be 40 bucks.

the other thing to check is a local tool repair shop.
My guess would be they'd have about 8 of them in a shitbox they dig in and out of.
Make pals with them, and they'll toss you one. Or cut you a healthy break on the retail price.

Yeah I'm gonna go seek and destroy tomorrow. I'm sure there are a box full of them somewhere.

Folks in Monterey love the military so I'll happily play that card and see what happens.
