Found this on Craigslist

Round Dining Table (http://kpr.craigslist.org/fuo/2325481737.html)

For a long time I've been wanting to build a 8~10 person round poker table to compliment my "Traditional" Oval Hold'em Table. The round table would be used as the cash game table as people bust out of a tournament, or simply used as a second table if a tournament required it.

This particular table has the unique benefit of being sizable based on the crowd that I may have.

The way I envision it is that the smaller piece would be the felted playing surface. However I'm thinking it would be rail-less

As players were added, we could add the additional pieces. It would have a racetrack look, with a padded rail on it.

Thoughts on improving that design - or abort all together?

To be honest with you, you don't want a 7' round poker table. It's impossible to play on, even if you pass the deal. Cards, chips, etc. It's just too large. And $200 is too much for a 54" round table. Not when you can build a basic table for that amount of money, with a rail, etc.

I'd build both based on what you're thinking and needing. Build an oval / hold em table, and then a short handed round table.

Welcome to the forum, BTW.

Yeah way to much $$ for this... It looks to be real wood but for that as Q said you can build a strong if not stronger table then what you have linked yourself. That and its specific to poker. Now if you are wanting both a table and a place to play cards you can build covers. I have seen it done before.

I agree you can build a table smaller and easier then converting this table.

Agreed. I built this round dining room table and it's a monster. We can easily seat 10 to eat and iirc it's only a little over 6' wide.

But it's a bitch to play cards on. Sometimes a cash game will get started on it during a bigger tourney and the play just sucks. You have to stand up to scoop a pot and deal the cards. For dinner time we have a big lazy susan for rotating dishes.

I have had plans for a while for another round table. It's a small 4 person table that has standard leaves to make an oval. I want to build a convertible table round to oval - 4 - 8 players. I think that's a better option for you.
