The wife will be out of town. Lets roll with a .50/1.00 game. NLHE/PLO (any other games that the table can agree on).

No time limit, no booze limit, and just for Slev...........nobody has to be fucking quiet. By game time the wife will be in PA.

If you want to get drunked up, I have plenty of couches, ect.....

I will put some type of food/snacks out. Not sure what yet. I will figure that out when it gets a little closer.

Self Deal (sorry Quads, like your going to make the trip anyways)

The game is definitely on. I posted this before I found out if I could get SAT. off or not. I'm off, so lets play.

No limit on the players. If you have any guests that you want to bring just let me know.

Out for the start. The boys have a pack meeting/baseball game that night. Might be able to make it later but unlikely.

Get a dealer and I may make it. (if wedge is there..... my car payment is due on the 15th so the timing is perfect.)

Why is a dealer important? It's a home game.

Why is a dealer important? It's a home game.

Because playing 6 hands an hour is insane. Unless my objective it to get totally and completely shithouse drunk, sleep in the dog house out back, and drive home in the morning, then I don't care. If we're there to play cards, then let's play cards. A dedicated dealer makes the game go sooooo much smoother. Particularly one who knows how to deal.

Do you also hold your cards with one pinky in the air?

Make sure you have the red carpet laid out and someone to feed his ass grapes.

Why you busting my balls?
You hosted a *perfect* game last time. Dedicated dealer and all.
And..... I paid my ticket at the court house the next morning.

Make sure the grapes are too cold. Let them air at room temp before feeding them to me.

I agree Slev's game was great with a dedicated dealer... But to me, the difference between dedicated dealer and self-deal is not enough that I'd refuse to play without a dedicated dealer. Maybe because the players I play with are decent at dealing.

Lemme ax you this: if you played in an 8-handed game with you and 7 other professionalk dealers, would you object to self-dealing? If not, then why not work at making your players competent dealers rather than searching for a dedicated dealer?

Quads

because it's easier to get a dedicated dealer than it is to train 7 others to do so.
And no, I don't refuse to play in pass the deal games, I just prefer dedicated dealer games because they run so much smoother for all parties.

I have to agree with both of you. The problem I believe Quads is citing is that although many players are capable of dealing out the cards and the basics, there are several things that a pro dealer does that are subtle but make for a much more enjoyable experience. The dealer should be monitoring the action, notifying players it's their turn to act, managing betting rounds, managing the pot, clearing side pots, etc. If your player/dealers are capable of doing all of those things, then I wouldn't have a problem with how the game was run at all. The biggest issue I find in home games is that player/dealers usually don't monitor whose turn it is to act and prompt players that it is their turn. This leads to substantially slower action, and the question that gets repeated 27,000 times per night - "whose action is it?" Alternatively, if you have good players that are interested in a solid game of cards, this usually doesn't become an issue, just that in most home games I've played in, not everyone is there primarily to play cards. Some are there to drink and socialize which is fine. Every home game is different. I don't have a problem with pass the deal, but I do have a problem with a slow game where the action is constantly stalling. If that isn't an issue in your game, then deal it however you would like IMO.

Interesting to read the replies.

Saying that, there won't be a dedicated dealer.

I Guarantee we will see more than 6 hands an hour. It won't be any slower than with the dealer at Slev's during the PLO rounds.

Two decks will be in play (even though I hear two decks slows the game down).

B

It looks like 2 or 3 action guys from Marc's game will be there.

FWIW, fuck tipping a dealer. You said the wife was gone. Deal yourselves and tip a massage girl.

I'm planning on playing DD. I am sure Q was exaggerating with 6 hands per hour. I am the type of guy who hates golfing at courses where the kid runs out to your car and carries your clubs to your cart. I have never ever used valet parking. I love rake free home poker and even love dealers choice games and all the bitching, bickering and teasing that comes with them.

Most of our games, we use a hybrid system. We have 2 dedicated dealer/player positions sitting in the middle of the table on both sides. One guy will dedicated deal and play for an hour then the other will. Sometimes we will trade out if the session is a long one. This way we always have solid dealers but don't have to tip/toke. It requires that the better dealers deal more, but there's never a perfect solution and it's worked well for us.

I completely agree. If I knew I was going to have 9 players I would prolly try and get Slev's Dealer friend (only one I know, lol). I personally hate dealing.

I'm playing in Wedges season tourney tonight so I'm going to talk to a few players there.

I have 4 potentials, but they won't let me know until prolly THUR.

Worse case scenario, if we play with only the 5 listed above, we can change the stakes to .25/.50 if everyone wants to.

I'm game for playing "HOPE".

I am out. Mike is a douchebag and I really don't care for DD at all. The only reason I was going in the first place was to get my own pictures of DD's wifey. Seeing as she's not home, I am out.

Truth: the whip has been cracked and my balls are back securely where they typically reside...in the clutches of the wife & kids

What do you guy's have against playing with 2 decks? I find it significantly speeds up the rate of play. We self-deal, so once a hand is done, the dealer grabs up the cards they just dealt, and shuffles them. Passes them over to the small blind, and all of this has happened while the new dealer is dealing and/or action is taking place. As soon as the hand is done, the next guy is sitting there with a deck ready to go.

Personally, for a home game I am there for the cards and the banter between players (75/25). The majority of the home games I go to have at least 2-3 guys that I know fairly well socially and a few more I know from playing in the regular games. Adding a second deck just gives you more shit to deal with and less banter. I rarely play a home game for stakes higher than .50/1...more often .25/.50 and in this type of game I allow my self to have a beer or 12 without fear of losing much. When I'm at the casino/card room I NEVER drink. 2 decks at a friendly home game is just annoying (my personal take) and if you're worried about the hands/hour then just get a dedicated dealer.

Thanks for the beers snacks etc. and it was a fun night with good competition. I swear Tom was on fire again, cards were falling in the dude's lap!

Sorry I didn't make it. I had every intention of leaving the house around 9 to catch a late seat. However...... I went upstairs to gather my things, change into clean clothes, etc. and walked in on the wifey with her legs draped over the arms of my easy chair in the sitting area of our room, one hand full of titty and nipple and the other hand, two fingers deep in the honey jar.

Now, I could have interrupted her to inform her I was leaving, but I didn't.
