View Full Version : Plasma in the first floor living room
So, my plan is move my 50" plasma to the first floor and put a projector in the basement. My worry is that the plasma will not be a good fit in my living room due to glare. Do any of you have plasma's in a room with windows and is there any major glare issues?

I have my 65 panny in the living room with 4 windows each about 2 foot wide, by 6 foot tall right beside the tv. Has never been an issue for me. Only issue I have, is the door casing on the wall opposite of the tv, I can see the reflection of that on the tv as the casing is white. I installed a curtain rod above the casing, and the problem was solved.
Hell, you already have the tv, so just give it a go and see how it is.

Yeah, I have a 50" plasma in my living room adjacent to a 12' bay window and have never had glare issues. It's a crock.
I also have LCD and truth be told, I still prefer the picture on the plasma to the LCD.

X2. The girlfriend brought an LCD when she moved in, and it doesn't even compare in terms of picture quality. I have yet to see an LCD that rivals plasma quality.

This is good to know; upstairs has huge light issues and my initial research suggested against plasma. I'm glad first hand LCD experience is available here.
Anyone have LED experience?

LED is nice as it it's super-thin, and uses less power.....other than that, it's pricey in my opinion. My uncle has a 65" Sharp Quattron, and the picture is nice, but still doesn't match my plasma.
Ultimately, and LED is still an LCD though, and all LEDs are not created equal. Here's a good read if you're in the market for an LED:

I have a Panny 65" plasma in my living room with two big windows on one side and light coming in from the kitchen on the other side and I haven't had any problems with glare either. I LOVE my plasma.
