So, buddy of mine moved into a new pad and is hosting a game..haven't played shit in awhile so I'm interested, especially a cash game....HOWEVER, the structure is fucked up.

$.25/$.50 - Everyone must buy in for $100 and there are NO rebuys. We are playing from 7pm to 12am (5 hours). Any thoughts? I like to play a little wild when I'm downing some whiskey (which is what I'll be doing) but how the fuck am I supposed to donk it up here....I know we are deepstacked but that might not last long.

Was debating on not going but fuck it...

NO re-Buys? Why play cash then?
And only the first couple of people who win big pots will be deep stacked....

I'll repeat what's already been said...no rebuys (none...really?) in a cash game? WTF?

I mean, I can see "limiting" rebuys in some ways (no more than X dollars, only when you are below Y chips, or whatever) but...none? Any idea WHY?

If they are looking to limit everyone's possible losses, why not play a tourney? How can you play NO LIMIT (cash) without the ability to rebuy? When it gets down to a few players (that now have ALL of the chips) ... why would the game even continue? That good-money-after-bad is where it is at! I just don't get it. Sounds like a crap shoot (and a poor one) to me. One "bad beat" and you're done, with no chance of getting some back, adding more to the other stacks, or even a few more hours of "fun". Sounds lame.

Keep your $100, IMHO.

Maybe their trying to keep it "friendly". :)

Honestly, I wouldn't play. This isn't a cah game IMO

I don't see anything "wrong" with it per say. There's no reason not to play. Personally I would be frustrated by the format. The whole point of a cash game is to be able to rebuy when you go broke. If I was going to play this, I would have a couple questions though. What if someone wants to leave before 12am, or show up later than 7pm? This is another major component of a cash game, being able to come and go.

The positive I can see to this structure over a tournament is that the blinds don't go up which makes the structure stay really good (no crap shoot at the end). Overall I'd probably play in it, but I don't understand the reasoning behind the choice in rules/structure.

Actually that might be exactly it. YOu know all you can lose is $100. Maybe he knows how much you all drink and how stupid you get when you do so. So to prevent someone going in way over their head drunk betting he caps the buy-in. Also it might help to rain in any overly aggressive/wild players that make the games no longer friendly and tend to piss people off at a simple home game.

Admittedly I'd never try to do that in my game, but I can see reasons for it. I know I have a few players that I have cut off because they got in too deep and wouldn't stop.

Definitely show up and play. I predict the rules will change. Maybe not this time, but next time.

LOL, good point. The rules will change when the host goes busto against someone in the first hour of play. Book it.

Thats what I am thinking as well...especially since the host is the most aggressive player there. We usually play a regular cash game and it can get pretty wild...that is why I am interested to see how this goes. I personally think its a pretty dumb idea...but shit, not much else going on tomorrow night and will give me a chance to check out his new pad.

Off to play....cooler with some beer and some Crown in case I am out in the first hour...bringing a few extra c-notes with me just in case.

Well, to take a different approach...$100 to a .25/.50? Isn't that like 200 bb? I mean, that's pretty deep stacked right off the bat. That sounds like tons of fun. There's no way I wouldn't go. But I would suggest that rebuys be allowed. I mean, why would anyone limit rebuys? It's my money; don't tell me how to spend it. But there's NO WAY I'm not going, if I were you I mean.

Goo Luu. The Crown sounds like a decent "re-buy" option, in any case.

Well...got busted but still had a great time. Out of the 8 of us, myself and another got busted after a few hours. Still would have liked to rebuy but recouped some of my losses throwing darts.

Terrible night for cards....got AK,AQ,AJ,KQ multiple times and flop was always coming out 9 high or some shit...lost half my stack with AK on a bluff....raised pf, c-bed, fired two more bullets on turn and river....board was 4 to a flush, something like QJ98x...got called down with 77 lol

But night wasn't a total loss...
