I got a little bit of a late start this summer renovating the card room/basement, but I'm balls deep in it now. Here is the renovation pics of the kitchen/bar area.
I didn't get a pic of the full area before I started demo, but here is a couple after I started pulling down the overhead cabinets:

After I finished ripping out the cabinets and pulled down the old drywall, this is what I found. Don't think it's quite up to code. Not a single Romex staple to be found and the wiring snakes everywhere. And the studs are mounted 4x2 instead of 2x4 - presumably to avoid cutting holes for the plumbing and electrical. Ugh. I didn't redo the studs, but I did at least attempt to fix the electrical wiring, since I was moving it and adding to it anyway. And I don't think the guy owned a ruler, as there was no rhyme or reason as to how far apart the studs are mounted.

I extended the studs to finish the wall. The previous homeowner only built enough to do the cabinets...

Installing cabinetry. I didn't get overheads at this time, but will likely get them in the near future.

Checking out the countertop. Had questions about it. Wifey didn't like it.

We ended up returning the countertop (in stock item, I didn't order custom counters) and getting a different style. MUCHO BETTER! Of course, I ended up finding something else to really make it look manly - the stainless steel panels/backsplash. Another $400 gone...
The finished job:

The dropped cabinet area will be where my fountain pop machine is going. I installed a large floor-drain in the center of the countertop for it's drain, which should make it *much* easier to maintain the machine. I added plumbing and electric for it to keep it cleaner. The current installation is in a cove with tubing and make-shift plumbing all over the place. This will look much better, especially with the stainless panels!
There is more to come. I have a different area framed in already, once I re-start that area, I'll post more pics.
