Hey gang! Finished my theater last year and found this great site so just wanted to share a few pics. Very fortunate to have a great friend who is a top shelf theater installer so this was me just following his lead. Bought the house with basement already finished and this room was somewhat of a space limitation but we adapted and made it work. Did all work retro.
Room to start with:

Another view into the room:

Had to fish ALL wires and got it done with minimal sheetrock cutting.
Building riser and bar:

Building audio rack in rear corner of theater:

Time to paint:

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g312/suntzu18/Cinema%20519/Cinema%20519%20Paint/AVCabinetPainted.jpg
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g312/suntzu18/Cinema%20519/Cinema%20519%20Paint/ScreenRiserViewPainted.jpg
Had a friend who does faux paint come over and he wanted to try something new on screen wall...I was thinking of how to get a "stone" look and this turned out really, really cool. He actually did it with drywall mud and then painted it and put some sort of gloss over it...actually feels liek stone.

Epson ProCinema Powerlite 7500 UB, Onkyo TX-SR606, Episode 7.1 speakers, Apple TV & Xbox. All remotes run IR. I did have a touchscreen remote....Logitech I think but it was too much of a hassel....I am a channel flipper and the regular Cable remote just suited me better. Love love love the Apple TV and got my seating via clearance at a furniture outlet nearby. Getting ready to start retro work on the adjoining room and I will probably start a new thread for that one....have a few questions as I get started. It is going to be a sports bar area and poker room....poker is my true love so I am looking forward to getting this thing completed so I can get the cards dealt. Thanks for the compliments!

Awesome looking room, and nice choice of movie. Despicable Me is great. My son loves that movie, and always asks to watch "Yellow Guys".

You can move the sub to the corner if you want. That range of sound is not directional.

I was going to mention that as well. Depending on the specific acoustics of that room and which wall he's bouncing off of, but yes, subs are great buried in the back of a room.

Absolutely gorgeous. I love the idea of placing the bar behind the seating and that faux stone looks great.
