Well done to the BW for making the money in the NL tourney at the Peppermill this past weekend.

Read all about it here:

She placed 13th out of a field of 269.
"Army" aka J Glenn (some of you know from my home game) took first place in the same tourney.

Pretty damn respectable if you ask me.

Shooulda gotten more than 3 bills for finishing pretty high. Well done nevertheless.

Yeah, I agree, it's a really top heavy payout.
She later sat at the No Limit table and made 3 bills in an orbit, so the best bang for the buck, unless you took the top 3 spots was in the cash games.

That's gonna be true in any tournament. A tournament gives you a shot at a pretty decent payoff, but, IMO, you gotta be resigned to expect nothing more than to just get a lot of play time and (hopefully) entertainment value for a capped expense when entering tournies.

You can play your ass off for a long time to get nothing or a small return on your money unless you happen to be in the right place at the right time. That's just the nature of the beast.

So, again IMO, if your goal in poker is to make money, stay in the cash games; if you're looking for a fun, "interactive" lottery that might bring a great payday but could be a huge waste of time from a monetary standpoint, play more tournies.
