So I have been looking at Best Buy and Online, and have heard and read a lot of different reviews on the new "Virtual" Surround Sound Bars with Subwoofers. I was looking to get one for the bar, because the sound on my new LED TV sucks, and I wanted to have surround sound in there anyway for video games, football Sunday etc...Anyway, my question is, do they really sound as good as they say, and do they Sound like you have REAL surround sound in the room? Please let me know your thoughts and experience with them...and if so, what is the BEST brand to buy for $250 or less? I want to be able to mount the bar below my new TV, and put the woofer on the ground near it....Let me know, Thanks!!!

It's bullshit marketing hype, IMO.

You want some kick ass / decent dollar surround sound? Check out the review on the monoprice speakers. Flush mount or the satellite ones they sell. Couple people in the forum have used them, some reviewed and said they are about a sore dick. You can't beat it.

I forgot about the monoprice speakers
I should get some & install them in-wall in the sunroom
Sunroom has a cathedral ceiling that slopes up from the outside wall
I actually have 2x6 walls out there so could fit a bigger/deeper speaker if better

I checked out the monoprice speakers online and they are VERY affordable (even the pairs). I just have another question...I dont want to put any in my walls, but want to place them in my ceiling..do I still need 5 speakers to make it sound good? What type of receiver will I need, and where can I get a good bass tube also to match?

I have a sound bar and wireless woofer. I decided to try one out. The sound isn't terrible. It's simulated surround but not bad for what I use it for.

You think it would work well in my "man cave"? Its only a small room 10x13, with hard floors...? The speakers on my new LED TV suck, and sounds like a tin can; so I was hoping I could get virtual surround sound and a better qulaity for a good price with the sound bar and subwoofer only being $200 or less...

I think it would work for you. I got it because the room it's in is long, but very narrow so running speakers would be weird. This worked out great for me.

What brand do you have, how much did you pay for it (if you dont mind me asking), and did you get one with a wireless subwoofer?
