Got there at 7am for their tourney. 60$ buy in (incl 10$ entry)... (never again will i wake up that early for a tourney btw)... when i get there, the crowed is mostly the younger crowd (no school due to christmas break).

I take a seat at one of the two NL tables with 70$ to pass the time until the tourney starts.. mostly bled away my blinds. Only nice hand was when I doubled up after my pocket Aces held up. cash out 150 and get seated for the tourney.

My table was tight for the first two rounds, which i expected. I jumped up to about 3-4000 T chips in th first few rounds. Played my cards as tight-aggressive as i could. One hand i was on th BB and 2 people acting in front of me went all in. I look down to find AKo... thought about it for a while.. (had them both covered).. .and mucked. I figured since there were still a couple more people to act, I didn't want to be put in a position for all my chips. Hole cards turn over, and one of them also has big slick and ends up taking down the pot. Oh well.

Couple more rounds pass and Im in middle-late position and find AJo. Few limpers in front of me, and I limp in. Why? I was pretty certain one fo the people behind me was going to raise, as they had been doing the past several hands. Everyone ended up limping. Flop comes down 2-J-3. SB bets 1/2 the pot and I come over the top to put him all in. He turns over J-3, which holds up to win. DOH! huge brain fart on my part. It slipped my mind that it was an unraised pot and he was on the SB. (he eventually went on to take 3rd) That crippled me down to about 2k. Add on period hits so I add on for 2000T for 20 bucks and eventually get busted out.

Interesting experience. I still favor limelight tourney's over Jackson. I like the crowd over there more.

Then I bought in for th NL cash game. I dont know if any of you were there. Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised If i was playin with some BYOC folks and didn't know it.

I kept my game tight for a few, took down small pots here and there, but for the most part bleeding away. A couple memorable pots: I limped in along with basically everyone else with pocket 2's. Flop comes down 10-2-10. Fireworks are goign off in my head at this point. Im in middle -late position and sb bets 10$ into the pot, followed by a 30$ raise behind him. I figure at this point to try to take the pot in case someone has a chance to suck out on me (which is more than likely to happen at jackson)... so I come over the top ~80$ all in. SB folds and the raiser calls 50$ more. I cant remember exactly what he had... but im pretty sure it was pocket painted pair... i dont think he had the 10... but my Duces Full hold up. bleed bleed bleed... then the pain begins.

a kid whom i'll call "Top Gun" sits down and all hell breaks loose for m. A couple of times he decimated my stack by calling a couple of raises on flush draw and of course he hit it on the river... more than a couple times. I was able to get some of my money back when i limped in on the SB with 10-6H an the Flop came down 6-6-Q all diamonds. Putting him on another draw, I bet 31$ all in (into a 15$ pot) and get him to call. he flips over pocket 4's and my trips hold up....then a few hands later....i raise UTG 16$, get 4 callers. Flop comes down. 2 diamonds (i cant remember the cards, i jsut remember the diamonds)... he bets 30 and I put my remaining 40 all in. 10 bucks to him to call so obviously he had the odds. I flip over pocket K's and he flips over Q-A Diamonds. And wouldn't you know it a diamond hits on the river.

Now it all comes together. I remember why I hated JAckson so much LOL.

Left the casino 70bucks down.. but oh well. Im Still up 850 from hitting my 8 game parlay this weekend LOL.

Was I at the same table as some of you?

I've never played that tourney. From my experiened in the cash game, there has never been much interest to drive out there that early.

Hagar has played it a few times I think.

Didn't play the tourney, but I opened the NL game this morning (Monday 1/2). Some of your hands sound like they could have been at my table (I was there until 8:00 so much of the day is a blur - a happy blur for a change, but a blur none the less). Did you open the first NL game after the tourney? (The table by the faux-cage.)

yeah their tourney starting time is horrible. oh well tho, first time for everything. Live n learn. I discovered more than a few leaks in my game because of it... but I wouldn't go back for a tourney there jsut because i lost. I wouldn't go because its jsut too damn early and well.... being that the place is filled with so many young guns 75% of everyone there is a damn river rat.

I'll admit i've been guilty of that more than a few times but have always chased consciously aware of pot odds/position/who the opponent is. Too many people there are jsut outright oblivious to things.

Yeah I did hagar.. i was the young filipno guy in seat 8... i had to listen to that older woman blabber on about everything. I have a feeling that you were the one on my right.. the guy who they almost killed your cards before the turn was dealt? LOL.

if thats you i think they had it out for ya

Actually I was in seat 8, but I was to your right.

Yep, they tried to muck my hand after I flipped it up on an all-in. Wish I'd known it was you. I don't think we've actually played together before. There's another guy that I've played with that fits your general description that I thought might be you. But I was wrong. You was you!

Helen is a pain to play with sometimes and she is so damn lucky it'll make you puke. (She was into the game for 3 buys when I racked out at 8:00 though. :D )

You shoulda stuck around. the game was actually fairly, managable for a while and there was a parade of weak no-clues that graced our stacks for about 2 hours. "Next!"

ahhh so I was right! I just had this weird feeling it was you after you mentioned you grinded it out for 11 hrs the other day (I had ready your previous post prior to today)... Next time I see you at jackson or abouts Ill make sure to say hello.

I wished I had stuck around but I didn't want to blow the last of my BR there. And besides, "Top Gun" was starting to piss me off with his "overbetting the pot on a draw bs" lol.

Maybe I can make up some of that money I lost betting on NBA and the rest of the bowl games to make it to the cash game this week that you or someone else might be putting together (per the other post)

I'm trying to put a face on "top-gun". That was so many hours ago, I don't remember the guy who was sucking out on you. (If it had been me, I'd remember him!) Unfortunately, there's a lot flush fishermen - those suited cards just rip me a new asshole most of the time.

Funny that you'd pick me out like that. Look forward to playing with you again.

I'll throw my trip report up tomorrow morning after I get to work...errr the office. Too tired right now, time for bed.
