Happy 2012? This, plus my second place in our fantasy football pool, lead to a good start to the new year. If only I can keep it up for the next 365 days...;)

Table share splits 25%? With a 10 person table that's almost $5k! Nice!

"Loser" gets 30%, winner gets 20%, entire poker room splits 20%....our "winning" table (9 players minus the two key players = 7 shares) split the remaining 30%. Almost $7k. Not $30k+ like some balla poker playas I know, but still a decent haul. ;)

My buddy John already blew through his entire share, and then some. Just got a text from him this afternoon that he bought a (used) boat for skiing, etc. I guess I'll have to one-up him in some way...

Nice score. That certainly beats working for a living.

On another note, and not to hijack, but what are the odds of two straightflushes on the table?

50/50. Either it happens or it doesn't.

Has the IRS came calling yet? They gonna want their share.

I don't know...there are MANY other ways for 2 straight flushes to happen, other than how it happened for us, although not many other ways for it to happen in a way that allowed the Bad Beat to trigger (both hole cards used, etc...) No idea what the odds really are. 50/50 sounds like a winner, to me.

Oh yeah. 30% is the typical take. I've got the whole year to write off as much of the win as I can...and as many well know, I'm a habitual LOSING poker player, so I might have a shot at "recouping" some of the taxes. ;)

What gets me is quad tens to qualify? No fucking wonder the BBJ was 150,000. Ive seen it over 200 g's with any quads qualifying.

That is a little stiff, but it's also not uncommon. It will most be based on whatever the insurance company that underwrites it says the minimum will be, along with the premium they pay on it.

Yes, most every BBJP out there is an insurance fund bought / paid for by the casino and underwritten by someone else.

Unless they've changed it, the casino near me is Aces full of 10's to qualify. The BBJ there regularly hits at least 75k before it hits. I don't know about the higher limit tables, but the 1/2 and 1/3 tables pay $1/pot to the BBJ if you see the flop.

This one was the "Mega Share" BBJ...with the higher qualifier and higher payout. As the pot grows, the qualifier drops. When we hit, it was about mid-way down the list of qualifying hands.

Also, they have a more "normal" BBJ that I think requires full boat over full boat or something. The payout is much smaller, and hits much more often.
