I just got a new TV for the guest room. It has a red/white audio input and a Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr for video. However the DVD player as the red/white/yellow output.

The red/white is obvious, but can I plug the yellow output in to Y or PB or Pr? Or do I need some adapter?

Red/white/yellow (RCA/composite) the ONLY connections on the DVD player? Seriously?

Well, you can plug the yellow into the component inputs, but you'll likely only get a black and white image. If that's all the DVD player can do, it's time to get a new DVD players.....

edit: What other inputs are on the tv? Optical, HDMI?

What model TV ?
All of my DVD players still have the Red/White/Yellow out & I have no problem connecting them to either LCD TV

To clear up the confusion the DVD has other outputs (S-video and G/B/R Component), but the cable I have is the R/W/Y. The TV is a Vizio EVA320 (I think) and has no Yellow input.

So I'm trying to determine if I can connect them with the R/W/Y cable or if I have to go buy a G/B/R Component cable.

The cables you have will work...they just have different colored ends.

You'll need cables for left audio & right audio (red & white if you want), AND R, G, & B (Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr)...use whatever color cables you have for those...you'll (obviously) need three for the video signal. Five RCA-type cables, total.

This. The coloured ends don't mean anything at all. They're just coloured that way to make hooking up multiple cables painless. Any cables with the RCA connector will work.
