Here's a project I made for my kids last Christmas. Santa brought it so I didn't dare take a single construction picture. It took about 3 weeks and 1 bloody finger to complete. I got it finished on Christmas eve. I was very lucky to have kept it hidden from them the whole time in the garage too.

It solid oak with some walnut dowels. No screws except the brass ones on the saddle and harness. Everything else is doweled and glued. I finished it with Watco oil hand rubbed. It was a lot of fun to build especially as it started to take shape.

Very cool. If you're lucky you'll get to see your grandkids on that some day too.

I've been asked to make another one.
The wood alone cost a bit of coin - I can't remember exactly how much - over $200 I think. Shipping would be outrageous too.
