Bkuhn18 has a spectacular aura about
Default Horse Racing Simulator for Casino Nights?

Hi All. Great site! I am glad I stumbled upon it. Been lurking for about a year and recently joined to get more involved. I have found wonderful ideas for my casino nights with craps table builds, etc. Now I am in need of some help.

As stated above, I host monthly casino nights for friends and we have a lot of fun. We got
Craps, blackjack, roulette, and poker. I would like to add a horse racing simulator if possible so people that are not comfortable with table games, (like friends new girlfriends) can easily still be involved by picking a horse and seeing if it wins. The idea came from seeing a virtual horse racing gambling game in casinos back in the day by SEGA? I believe? Anyways, I looked online for it to see if it is doable for home use and it doesn't look like it.

Do any of you know of any online or of software or mame or anything that would satisfy this idea? Basically looking for cartoon horses to run around the track and people can bet on it just like real horses. I super flexible to ideas as I'm not even sure if this is possible.

Thanks for your time!
Brad

This is the simplest style you could replicate, I think:

I've seen horse track racing games used with varying sizes and quality: light up spinner wheel, televised angles of the spinner and an overhead of the track. I think the best was stage-built, tilted at probably 30 degrees to face the audience. It was an upside-down horseshoe (unlucky? and probably around 8'x16'?) with a man in the middle who stood to use a craps rake to pick up and move oversized horse models across the track's spaces.

But I could easily see one built for home scale, too. And if I did, I'd base the look on this one I used to play in a casino:

Put spaces on the track with an equal number for each horse. Primary colours on each lane to match the horses. You'd have to create a betting board or hand out tickets for bets. A spinner is still probably the best way to decide which horse moves and how many because it takes time and generates a lot of hype.

Could be fun. I look forward to seeing your build.

We play this game.

http://www.searchamateur.com/product...Horse-Game.htm

Premise is you deal out all the cards to the players and those are the players "horses"

Then players roll dice. The first 4 rolls set the "horses that didn't make the gate" based on 1 2 3 4 penalty bet. Then you continue to roll the dice and advance the horse that are still in play each time that number comes up and pay the penalty if you roll a horse than didn't make the gate. When a horse reaches the end the players that hold the corresponding cards split the pot.

Hope that makes sense.
