Racetracks can be cool (Like Dr. X says, for those who like them) but they add a whole other dimension to the effort, that's for sure. Both in making the racetrack, and getting the butt between padded center insert and racetrack flush. They look great when it all comes together ... but I just couldn't have been bothered.

Another option (sort of) is to have the cloth printer print a racetrack with a line and different color--I've seen that and construction is easy and it looks sharp. I have to admit, though, that tables with racetracks are cool as hell.

This x eleventy billion.

I have 2 racetrack tables, and I've redone the playing surface on them multiple times and I still can't get this just right. Irks me to no end. I finally resorted to going with a raised playing surface on one table and plan to do the same on the other to eliminate the gap and just forget trying to be flush.

It's been a while since I've been on the forums. Chanman you've come a long way in a short time. Beautiful work. Here are a couple recent builds. 54x88 ellipse 58x92 top and 66" octagon.
